Later

“i didn’t see you there” she says.
It should stop
there. Please.

“What are you up to then?” Oh.
I answer her
then. Nothing.

No apology. “I won’t say ‘sorry’”,
and I know that
“Sorry: why not?”

“You and I didn’t fit, you know”
And that’s that
“I know” I lie

And when you disappear to dance
you won’t see me
disappear again.
